Eweprofit I School is scheduled for June 11, 2019 at the University of Kentucky C. Oran Little Research Center Sheep Unit. The research center is located at 1171 Midway Road, Versailles, KY (see attached notice with map).

Eweprofit I is one of the three Eweprofit Schools conducted annually at the University of Kentucky. Eweprofit II is scheduled for October 8, 2019. Eweprofit III will be held in April of 2020. Although these schools are designed primarily for new and prospective sheep producers, veteran shepherds are welcome to attend and sharpen their sheep management skills. Participation in all three schools (Eweprofit I, II, and III) will allow students to come away with a complete knowledge of each flock management period (flushing, breeding, gestation, parturition, lactation and management) during a calendar year. Complete management programs for (1) January/February, (2) April, and (3) September/October lambing will be provided.

Topics of discussion, demonstration, and hands-on for Eweprofit I are: beginning a sheep operation, internal parasite control, foot care, body condition scoring ewes, breeding soundness examination of rams, and preparing ewes for breeding in August/September. Eweprofit I begins at 10 a.m. (EDT), with lunch on your own from noon until 1 p.m.; the school will conclude by 3 p.m. (EDT). There is no official pre-registration or fee; however, the school does ask that participants call Dr. Don Ely at 859-257-2717 or email dely@uky.edu prior to June 10, 2019 to verify planned attendance.
